How to organize PDF pages

To organize PDF pages, open the file above and every page appears as a thumbnail you can drag, rotate, duplicate or delete. When the order looks right, press Save PDF and you get a new file. The original on your disk is not touched.

  1. Choose a PDF or drop it on the box. Thumbnails are drawn as you scroll, so even a 300-page file opens quickly.
  2. Fix the pages: drag them into place, use the rotate buttons under sideways pages, and press × on pages you don't want.
  3. Check the page count in the result panel, change the file name if you like, and press Save PDF.

No PDF at hand? The sample button builds a 6-page test document in your browser. Page 4 is upside down and page 5 is landscape, so you can practise the most common fixes straight away.

How do I rotate PDF pages and save them?

Most PDF viewers have a rotate button, but it only changes the view. Close the file, open it again and the page is sideways once more. To rotate a PDF permanently, the rotation has to be written into the file itself, which is what happens when you save here.

Each press turns a page 90°, and a badge on the thumbnail shows the change.

What you seeWhat to pressChange
Text runs bottom to top (page turned left)Rotate right once+90°
Text runs top to bottom (page turned right)Rotate left once-90°
Page is upside downRotate right twice+180°
Every page of a scan is sidewaysRotate all left or right±90° on all pages
Only pages 3, 8 and 12 are wrongTick those three, then rotate selectedonly the ticked pages

The PDF stores rotation as a page setting in steps of 90°, so this is lossless. A page that is slightly crooked (say 3° off because the paper slipped in the scanner) cannot be straightened this way. That needs a scanning app with deskew.

How do I delete pages from a PDF?

Press × under the page. To remove many pages, tick them (Shift-click selects a whole range, so pages 5 to 20 take two clicks) and press Delete selected. The Deleted counter in the result panel tells you how many original pages are gone.

Deleted by mistake? Press Undo or Ctrl+Z. Undo goes back step by step through your last 100 changes, so you can try things without worrying about losing work.

The new file only carries the images and fonts that the remaining pages use, so cutting a 20-page scan down to 2 pages usually shrinks it a lot. There is one catch: some PDF makers attach every image to one shared resource list, and then each kept page drags all of them along. If the saved file is still much bigger than you expect, that is why, and a PDF compressor is the next step.

How do I rearrange or reverse the page order?

Drag a thumbnail and drop it where the coloured bar appears. With a mouse you can grab the page anywhere. On a phone, hold the dotted handle in the corner, because dragging the page itself would scroll the screen. The arrow buttons under each page move it one step at a time.

To move a block of pages, tick them first and drag any one of them. They travel together and keep their order. Moving pages 8, 9 and 10 to the front takes one drag.

Reverse order flips the whole document, so 1-2-3-4-5 becomes 5-4-3-2-1. That fixes the classic scanner mistake where a stack was fed face up and came out last page first. With a few pages ticked, only those trade places with each other and the rest stays put.

Double-sided scans

If you scanned the fronts of a 5-sheet document and then the backs, you get pages in the order 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2. Tick the last five (Shift-click), press Reverse selected, and the backs read 2, 4, 6, 8, 10. Then drag each even page behind its odd partner.

Privacy and limits

Thumbnails are drawn by pdf.js and the new file is written by pdf-lib, both running on your own device. Your PDF is not uploaded, which matters for contracts, medical letters and ID scans.

Pages are copied as they are, so text stays selectable and scans are not recompressed. Bookmarks, the outline panel and links between pages are not kept in the new file, and a digital signature stops being valid once any page changes, because the signature covers the exact original bytes. Password-protected PDFs need the password removed first. On phones, documents of a few hundred pages are fine; very large scans (500+ pages of photos) may run out of memory.

Frequently asked questions

How do I rotate PDF pages and save them that way?

Open the PDF here, press the rotate button on each sideways page (or Rotate all), then press Save PDF. The rotation is written into the file, so the pages open the right way in every viewer, not just in the one you used.

How do I delete pages from a PDF for free?

Press the × under any page, or tick several pages and press Delete selected, then save. For example, removing pages 2 and 7 from a 10-page scan gives an 8-page PDF. If you delete the wrong page, Undo brings it back.

How do I rearrange the pages in a PDF?

Drag a page thumbnail to its new spot, or use the arrow buttons under it to move it one place at a time. To move a block, tick several pages first and drag any one of them; they move together and keep their order.

Can I reverse the page order of a PDF?

Yes. Press Reverse order and a 1-2-3-4 document becomes 4-3-2-1. This is the usual fix for a stack scanned last page first. Tick a few pages first to reverse only that group.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. The thumbnails and the new file are made inside your browser with pdf.js and pdf-lib. You can disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded the PDF engine and it keeps working.

Can I add pages from another PDF?

Yes. Press Add PDF and pick a second file. Its pages are inserted after the pages you have selected, or at the end if nothing is selected, and you can then mix them freely with the first file.

Why does my PDF say it is password protected?

The file is encrypted, and pages of an encrypted PDF cannot be rewritten. Open it with its password in your PDF reader, print it to a new PDF, and load that copy instead.

Does rotating or deleting pages lower the quality?

No. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays selectable and images are not compressed again. Only the page order, rotation and page count change.
